About 30th Celebration

The Pokémon TCG 30th anniversary expansion and the first set in the game's history to launch simultaneously worldwide. Every card is foil — including Basic Energy — and packs contain 6 cards instead of 5, one of which is always a Pikachu from a run of 30 unique illustrations. The ~150-card set debuts the Futuristic Rare rarity illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN and includes a Classics Collection of 30 reprints spanning three decades, headlined by Base Set Charizard. Products roll out in five waves from September 16 to December 4.

30th Celebration Chase Cards & Most Valuable Cards

Because every card in the set is foil, rarity is expressed through the new Futuristic Rare tier and the Classics Collection rather than through holo treatment. The cards driving the set:

  1. Mewtwo ex (Futuristic Rare) — One of the two revealed cards in the brand-new Futuristic Rare rarity, illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN. 230 HP Psychic-type with Photon Bullets (50 damage to each of your opponent's Pokémon ex) and Psychic Powers (230 damage). The debut of a new rarity in an anniversary set is exactly the setup that produced the most valuable modern chase cards.
  2. Mew ex (Futuristic Rare) — 160 HP with the Memory Helix Ability, letting it use the attacks of any Benched Pokémon. Mew has a long record of premium anniversary pricing.
  3. Pikachu Futuristic Rare — Not formally confirmed, but strongly implied by the set's structure. Given that Pikachu premium cards such as the Vivid Voltage Rainbow Rare and the Van Gogh Museum promo trade in the hundreds, this would be the single most valuable card in the set.
  4. Base Set Charizard (Classics Collection) — The most iconic card in the hobby returns with a "30" Pikachu stamp and exclusive foil treatment. The 25th anniversary Celebrations version trades at $50–$100+, and the 30th version has a larger collector base behind it.
  5. Umbreon Illustration Rare — Umbreon is the most reliably expensive Eeveelution in the modern game; the Prismatic Evolutions Umbreon ex SIR still trades around $880–$1,000.
  6. Espeon Illustration Rare — The natural partner card, and the pair carries the Espeon & Umbreon Battle Deck and Ultra-Premium Collection alongside it.
  7. Greninja ex and Sylveon ex — Brand-new cards for two of the most popular Pokémon in the game, each with a dedicated ex Box product.
  8. The 30 Pikachu illustrations — One appears in every single pack, each by a different artist. Completing all 30 takes far more than 30 packs once duplicates are accounted for, which creates sustained singles demand long after launch.

The remaining Classics Collection reprints span Base Set through Scarlet & Violet, with Pikachu & Zekrom-GX, Solgaleo GX, Aquapolis Lugia and Base Set Pikachu among those confirmed.

Collector & Investment Outlook

Anniversary sets are the strongest historical performers in the hobby, and the 25th anniversary Celebrations set is the direct precedent: sealed ETBs went from roughly $50 at retail to $80–$120+ within four years, after selling out within seconds at launch and staying scarce for months.

What makes the 30th different, in both directions:

  • Bigger and harder to complete: ~150 cards against Celebrations' ~50, plus a 30-card Pikachu subset. More cards to chase means more sustained singles demand, but also a longer, more expensive path to a master set.
  • A brand-new rarity: Futuristic Rare debuts here. Rarities that debut in a landmark set tend to be revisited by collectors years later, and the YOSHIROTTEN collaboration follows the pattern of the Van Gogh Museum and Munch promos that became some of the most valuable modern cards.
  • No booster box to hoard: The absence of a standalone international booster box concentrates sealed demand into the ETB and the Ultra-Premium Collection. Historically, when a set's bulk SKU is scarce, the flagship boxes carry the sealed market.
  • Five waves, not one drop: The staggered September–December rollout spreads supply and demand. That reduces the launch-week scarcity spike that defined Celebrations, and it gives buyers who miss the first wave several more chances at retail.
  • Simultaneous global launch: European collectors get day-one parity for the first time, but global demand also hits every retailer at once.

The practical strategy is unchanged from every prior anniversary set: buy sealed at MSRP, spread purchases across waves and countries, and let alerts catch restocks rather than paying launch-week secondary prices. Reprints have followed every anniversary release.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 30th Celebration set in stock in Europe?
The first wave released on September 16, 2026 and European retailers are listing stock now. Availability shifts hourly and varies by country — the live stock table above shows which countries currently have products, and a free alert will notify you the moment any of 290+ tracked stores lists one.
Is there a 30th Celebration booster box?
Not internationally. Japan receives a 20-pack booster box at ¥7,200, but no standalone booster box was announced outside Japan. The Ultra-Premium Collection—Day & Night (November 6) has the highest pack count at 29 packs plus 1 Classic Collection pack, and the Booster Bundle (6 packs, October 2) has the best cost per pack.
What is in a 30th Celebration booster pack?
Six cards, and every one is foil: five foil cards plus one foil Basic Energy. One of the five is always a Pikachu from a set of 30 unique illustrations by 30 different artists, so every pack contains a Pikachu.
What is a Futuristic Rare?
Futuristic Rare (FUR) is a brand-new rarity debuting in this set, illustrated by Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN with a distinctive vibrant treatment. Mewtwo ex and Mew ex are the two revealed Futuristic Rares. Since every card in the set is already foil, Futuristic Rares sit at the top of the rarity hierarchy as the primary chase cards.
Which 30th Celebration product is the best buy?
The Elite Trainer Box is the best all-round purchase: 9 packs plus usable accessories and the full-art Nidorina promo. For cost per pack, the Booster Bundle wins. For total volume, the Ultra-Premium Collection has 30 packs. For the cheapest way to open any packs at all, the Knock Out Collection or a Mini Tin has 2 each.
How much does the 30th Celebration set cost in Europe?
Japanese pricing is ¥360 per pack, roughly 1.8x a standard pack, reflecting the all-foil 6-card format. In Europe expect around €7–9 per pack, €60–75 for an Elite Trainer Box and €180–230 for the Ultra-Premium Collection. Compare live listings above before buying — anything far above the cluster of prices other stores are showing is a markup.
When do the rest of the 30th Celebration products release?
The Booster Bundle and ten Mini Tins arrive October 2. The Espeon ex & Umbreon ex Battle Deck arrives October 30. The Ultra-Premium Collection, Ditto Premium Collection and Mew & Mewtwo Figure Collection all arrive November 6. The Binder Collection closes the lineup on December 4.
Is the 30th Celebration set worth buying as an investment?
Anniversary sets have the strongest track record in the hobby — sealed Celebrations ETBs nearly doubled from retail in four years. The 30th adds a new rarity, a YOSHIROTTEN collaboration, a Base Set Charizard reprint and an all-foil format. The main counterweight is the five-wave rollout, which spreads supply and softens the launch scarcity spike. Sealed product bought at MSRP remains the lowest-risk approach.
